About Martin
Hello! I’m Martin Goetzinger, a passionate marketing technology expert (by day) and an world-traveler (whenever I can).
My adventures focus on action-based eco-travel, where I engage in activities that create immediate and lasting impacts, such as: reef restoration, beach rehabilitation, wildlife protection, and supporting local communities.
This blog serves as my canvas to capture these experiences and share insights on how you can also make a difference during your travels—whether exploring remote destinations or navigating bustling tourist hotspots. My goal is to demonstrate that anyone, regardless of skill or budget, can contribute to making the world a better place through immersive travel experiences.
Explore My Journey
In my travels, I’ve had the privilege of:
- Staying in a hut at the edge of a volcano in Costa Rica to learn about its unique ecosystem.
- Discovering an appreciation for street art
- Diving to shipwrecks to study artificial reef development.
- Hiking through countless jungles to catalog waterfalls and assess their water quality.
- Participating in a sea turtle rescue where we protected turtle eggs from being crushed by unknowing tourists, ensuring they hatched safely and returned to the ocean.
My journey began two decades ago at Blackbaud, a software company dedicated to nonprofits. During my ten years there, I collaborated with diverse clients across sectors like higher education, disease research, human rights, and nature preservation. These experiences opened my
eyes to how small actions can yield significant outcomes. I vowed not to wait until retirement to explore the world.
Since then, I've traveled to 15 countries (some multiple times) and visited 33 of the 50 United States, with my list continually growing.
A Multifaceted Passion
I am not just a world traveler; I am also an avid scuba diver, distance cyclist, downhill skier, art lover, and technology enthusiast.
